Tall Ships® New Orleans 2018 is an event that will bring our maritime history alive. For four days in April, students will be able to walk the decks and talk to the crew of what it is like to live on board. Some ships are a reflection of life in the 18th century!
We hope visiting Tall Ships® New Orleans will make you want to sail away with us! Students, or trainees, become a part of the crew, learning about themselves and the ocean around them. Programs on board the ships, while varied, typically embrace science, technology, math and the environment.
Trainees learn teamwork, confidence, and the value of being part of something bigger than themselves.
Student groups visiting Tall Ships® New Orleans will learn more about the War of 1812 through walking the decks of Oliver Hazard Perry at Woldenberg Park and sailing aboard Privateer Lynx at Lake Pontchartrain. Get up close to General George Patton when you sail aboard his commissioned schooner When and If at Lake Pontchartrain. Experience 135 years of American maritime history when you walk the deck of Tall Ship Elissa. You can even travel the world without leaving New Orleans when you cross the decks of Dutch ship Oosterschelde and Cook Islands- flagged Picton Castle.
